Thundersport 600 Debut
Racing at Cadwell Park in the GB Racing 600 Sportsman Elite class, the weekend got off to a slow and soggy start. Lewis made it out on to circuit for only one session due to the weather conditions.
Saturday mornings qualifying got off to a better start with Lewis sat in third position until slight detour off track pushed him down to eleventh.
Lewis recaps of his water logged weekend “In the first race on Saturday I never got the best of starts, but I managed to fight my way through the pack and get up to fifth in class. On Sunday morning we had our second race and it was wet! We didn’t know how I was going to get on because we haven’t had a lot of wet time, but I got a good start and got up to the front group. I managed to fight my way through to the lead and had a brilliant battle but coming out the last corner I lost a bit of drive and came second by 0.07s but we were happy with a podium. In the last race we made some changes to the bike but I never got the best of starts again. I got caught in a battle but managed to pull away, but unfortunately I never had the pace of the front group. I still managed to get fourth in the class. We were really happy with how the weekend went and how much we learnt for our first ever time at thundersport on the 600. We are entered for the next round of thundersport at Oulton Park and I can’t wait, it’s my favourite circuit. First we are at knockhill this weekend for the Scottish Championship round.
