P1010725DESPITE a disrupted schedule at Knockhill, Lewis Rollo enjoyed a top ten position in his debut round of the MCE British Superbike series.

Lewis only recently turned 16 years of age meaning this was the earliest he was able to start due to the series rules.

A positive first outing on Friday in the Pirelli National Superstock 600 class put him in fifth position.

This gave the youngster from Gifford the confidence he needed to blow away any nerves he may have been hiding.

Using the first qualifying session to play with a few settings Lewis dropped back to eighteenth on the grid. Unfortunately this was to be his race day starting position.

During Friday evening heavy rainfall had damaged part of the track, which resulted in his second qualifying session being cancelled so that the track could be repaired.

Sunday’s warm up session was enough to point out a few issues that needed to be resolved before the race.

“The weekend never went as planed“ Lewis adds, “Qualifying didn’t go well and then not getting out on Saturday. We managed to get the bike sorted for the race on the actual grid! The race was mega, making my way through the field and getting up to ninth in 14 laps was amazing. I just wish we could have had a better position on the grid to see what we could have done starting further up the grid”
