LEWIS Rollo completed his debut outing on the MSS Colchester Kawasaki ZX10R at round one of the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 championship at Donington this past weekend.

Not only did the Scottish teenager have a brand new steed to build a new relationship with, but also a new exciting race format from the organisers of the British Superbike championship.

The new format has been set out for a two part race one over 18 laps each with a ten minute interval to change tyres, settings and refuel. This new race set up was carried out on Saturday with the usual race two carried out on Sunday.

A crash in qualifying saw the eager youth starting from 43rd on the grid. From the flag Lewis carved through the field, making it to 19th during the opening laps. However, a short shower spell saw his pace drop as he fell back to 29th.

A quick turnaround in the pits and Lewis was back out for part two of race one. Starting from the finishing places in the first part, Lewis got a good start and clung to the back of the leading group to finish 13th.

Sunday’s races saw another promising start to the teenagers season with an 11th place finish taking home 6.5 points for the championship.
